Fabricates acrylic or cast metal splints for the reduction or fixation of maxillary and mandibular fractures, vertical dimension increasing prosthesis, and obturators to close an opening in the palate. LABORATORY PROCEDURES. The incumbent must have the ability to pour accurate casts from all types of impression materials. This includes preliminary casts, final casts, fixed casts with die pins, and their articulation on simple, semi-adjustable, and fully adjustable articulators. The technician must be familiar with the various methods and materials used in custom tray fabrication, templates, mouth guards, splints, altered casts, boxing and pouring final denture impressions, and record base construction and occlusion rim fabrication for partial and full dentures. The technician must also have the ability to do all acrylic resin repairs and modifications, as well as all soldering procedures.
